The view from the Top of the Rock is my favourite observation-deck view in New York because the Empire State Building remains part of the skyline rather than disappearing beneath you. I visited in mid-November 2015 during an unusually warm stretch, when it was still comfortable outside in a light sweater. The smaller set of binoculars in the foreground gave me a way to frame the enormous view without overwhelming it. The Empire State Building sits front and center, One World Trade Center rises in the distance, and, if you look closely, there is even a tiny Statue of Liberty.
