The Capilano Suspension Bridge is one of Vancouver’s most familiar attractions, but what interests me most about the location is not only the bridge itself. It is the feeling of being suspended between the river below and the enormous cedar, hemlock and Douglas fir trees rising around it. I visited on July 22, 2016 at 3pm on a beautiful summer day. The bridge was busy with visitors, yet the scale of the forest still dominated the experience. That tension between a crowded human structure and the surrounding trees is what I wanted to preserve.
