I consider Bethesda Fountain to be the heart of Central Park. Both the fountain and terrace were part of the original design of Central Park, and there is something about that continuity that has always fascinated me. This painting looks toward the fountain from the upper terrace on a blazing hot day in July 2015. In the foreground, a young woman pauses for a quiet moment of reflection while the park carries on around her.
